A Crisis in the Kalobeyei Reception Centre The vision for Fabiola Amazing Food Company was not born in a corporate boardroom. It was born out of necessity, urgency, and a mother’s profound love.
In 2022, refugee entrepreneur Fabiola Nzoyikorera and her family were living in the Kalobeyei Reception Centre in Turkana County, Kenya. Like thousands of newly arrived families, they faced the harsh, daily reality of limited access to nutritious food. When Fabiola’s daughters began showing severe signs of malnutrition, she knew she had to take immediate action.
The 10-Kilogram Solution Drawing on her deep understanding of nutrition and fortified foods, Fabiola sourced locally available ingredients—maize, sorghum, soybeans, and finger millet. She painstakingly washed, dried, roasted, and milled her very first 10 kilograms of highly nutritious porridge flour.
The goal was simple: to restore her daughters’ health. The results were rapid and undeniable. Within a short period, her children’s vitality and strength returned.
A Community Awakening Recognizing that neighboring mothers were fighting the exact same battle, Fabiola began sharing her fortified porridge. The community’s response was overwhelming. Families were amazed not only by the rich, roasted taste but by the visible health improvements in their children.
What began as a 20-kilogram home-based initiative quickly evolved. Through relentless persistence and a commitment to community health, Fabiola transformed her small project into a fully registered, women-led enterprise: Fabiola Amazing Food Company Ltd.
Looking to the Future Today, we are scaling our impact. We produce the widely trusted Amazing Family Porridge and Amazing Special Porridge, providing life-saving nutrition to vulnerable families across the region. But our mission is far from over.
We are currently working to establish a modern porridge flour processing facility in Kakuma, aiming to create at least 150 direct jobs while preparing to launch our future Soya Milk and Soya Meat production lines.
